Photosensitivity and seizure warning
Please read before playing. A very small number of people may have a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that can appear in video games. Even people with no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these "photosensitive epileptic seizures" while playing.
Symptoms can include light-headedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Stop playing immediately and see a doctor if you or anyone playing has any of these symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask their children about them.
To lower the risk: sit further from the screen, use a smaller screen, play in a well-lit room, and don't play when you're tired.
What we do about it: CLOSED CASKET avoids strobing (no flashing police lights, no flicker effects). Settings has Photosensitive mode (no blinking, no screen shake) and Reduce motion (calmer animation, no bounce, no spray). This website has no flashing or auto-playing animation, and respects your device's "reduce motion" setting.
Dark themes
CLOSED CASKET is a dark comedy about death and funeral work. Expect: cartoon corpses, clients who sit up, wave and run off, jokes about grief, funerals and bad jobs, mild peril, and crude humour. There is no gore, no blood and no real-world violence. We self-describe it as 13+. It has no official age rating (ESRB, PEGI or other); this is our own description.
If death is a hard subject for you right now, it's completely okay to skip this one. If you're struggling, please talk to someone you trust. In the US you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline); elsewhere, your local emergency number or a local helpline can help.
All characters, businesses and places are fictional. Black Lane Funeral & Collection isn't a real funeral home, and any resemblance to real people, brands or businesses is coincidental.
Playing online
- No text chat and no name box. Everyone gets a random callsign. Communication is walkie pings and a wheel of preset quick lines.
- Crew radio (voice) is optional, off by default and 13+. It is not moderated and not recorded. Public rooms start with voice disabled. You can mute anyone or everyone, and turn yours off any time.
- Hosts can kick players and lock rooms. Anyone can leave or report a room (it sends only the room code and a category).
- Never share personal details (real name, school, address, socials) with people you meet online.
Healthy play
No streaks, no daily rewards, no countdowns, no push notifications. Nothing is lost if you stop playing for a week, or forever. Take breaks.
