What we're working on

A few of you asked what we're actually doing back here, so this is the whole list, game by game. There are no dates in it on purpose. Plans change, and when they do, we'll say so here.

Closed Casket 3D

The 3D version isn't going to be a separate game. It's becoming part of Closed Casket itself: one game, and on the start screen you pick 2D or 3D.

The 3D side is an open world. It starts with a small village. Here's what we're building into it:

  • Every building has a name sign. There are no map markers. You get a to-do list for the job and find the places yourself, like any new hire on their first night.
  • A real job board at the funeral home, where you pick your jobs, and an upgrades board where you spend your pay.
  • Proper stairs you actually walk up and down, and animations for everything, not just the big moments.
  • Bot crewmates when you play solo.
  • Online multiplayer in both 2D and 3D, on the browser, Windows, Linux and Android. Each room is one mode, so everyone in a room is working the same kind of night.

The rule we're working to: anything you can do in 2D, you should be able to do in 3D.

About the 3D prototype on the site right now. It's an early test, and it has known problems. The solo bot crewmate is missing, you can't pick up caskets, and loading the hearse doesn't work. So for now it's more of a walk around the village than a shift. We're fixing these. If you want a proper night's work, the 2D game is the one to play. If you still want a look, it's at /play-3d/.

Closed Casket 0.1.3 (in the works)

The next update is being built now. Here's what's going in:

  • 3–4 players on one screen, not just two.
  • A new night district.
  • New client types.
  • More one-off night events.
  • The sky shifts toward dawn colours as sunrise gets close, and some nights get different weather.
  • Stickers for your shift report and photo mode. You earn them by playing. There's nothing to buy.
  • A replay archive of past Night Boards, so you can go back to an old night whenever you like. No streaks.
  • A Linux .deb download, next to the zip and the AppImage.

New things get made for both 2D and 3D, so nobody has to pick a side to get them.

Who Sits Where

It's out now. Three new tables a day, every past day in the archive, and no streaks. Play it in your browser, or get a download from the Who Sits Where page.

A 3D version is planned. Same idea as Closed Casket: when it exists, you'll pick 2D or 3D.

Everything else on the notice board

These are working titles. None of them is playable yet, and any of them could change or be dropped. Here's where each one honestly stands:

  • Contested Will (bluffing card game): planned. Next in line on the board, still on paper.
  • Carpet Club (mini-golf party game): planned. On paper, in the queue after Contested Will.
  • Bobber Club (cozy social fishing): planned. Still on paper.
  • Wallpaper Wake (hide-and-seek party game): planned. Still on paper.
  • Floral Tributes (merge-drop puzzle): an idea.
  • Pincer Move (chess-like tactics): an idea.
  • Stairwell Sprint (obstacle race): an idea.
  • Last Deckchair (party elimination): an idea.
  • Bank Shot Tanks (top-down arena): an idea.

The ideas are just that. We may never make them, or they may turn into something else. The full cards are on the notice board.

Tell us

Everything stays free: no ads, no accounts, no tracking, nothing to buy. That part isn't changing.

If something's broken, or there's a game on this list you'd play before the others, leave us a note on the anonymous feedback form. You'll get a ticket code if you want a reply. We read every one.

Back to the night board.
